Farm.
About us /
It was a fateful November day five years ago when the story of Conigar Farm began. We had been at our new farm in Devon for all of a month when we suddenly got a call from one of the locals, patiently explaining that she had eight ewe lambs to sell which had been on our land previously and did we want them? Four days later, Bumble, Lulu, Twiggy, Blossom, Star, Pickles, Lola and Bee arrived and set up camp in our (woefully underprepared) farm. Five years, many escapes and a huge pile of wool later, here we are!
We take great pride in our flock and in their upkeep. Our rams, ewes and lambs are cared for throughout their lives, and are raised with the utmost consideration for their nutrition and general health; the antithesis to the fast-farming of today. If they are ill, they are taken to the vet. If they are malnourished, they are given the necessary adjustments to their nutrition. And needless to say, they are always within reaching distance of healthy food and clean water.
By supporting our little farm, you will be supporting the Black Welsh Mountain breed itself (one taking the rocky steps away from endangerment) as well as our family run enterprise. We do everything ourselves in Devon, UK - from feeding to shearing to sewing the products and producing the website (hi there!). Everything we do is focused on sustainability and animal welfare.
Our wool is unbleached, undyed and formulated with no harsh chemicals. It's naturally hypoallergenic and dust-resistant, too. The deep brown-black hue is the natural colouring of our beautiful sheep. If you want luxury without guilt, this one's for you.
With love,
The team at Conigar Farm x
